Wood floor restoration
Sanding, board repairs, varnish or oil: your old wood floor gets its original charm back.
See this serviceFrom your living room floor to the coffee corner in the garden: I fit and restore the wood that makes a house live, indoors and out. With species that stand up to the Pyrenean climate.
What I love about interior and exterior woodwork is thinking the space through as a whole, so it is beautiful, practical and durable at the same time.
Indoors, I fit new wood floors and bring old ones back to life: sanding, repairs, finishing. Outdoors, I build decks, pergolas and carports that extend the house into the garden. I work in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, in Gerde and in the villages of the valleys, right across the Hautes-Pyrénées.
Before the first post goes in, we think it through together: the orientation, the sun, the rain, the snow, and the best way to enjoy your space. Every project deserves a solution that makes sense, technically and financially.

Here are the questions I will ask you when we first talk. Take your time thinking them over, there are no wrong answers.
You call me and tell me about your project. I ask a few questions and we set up a visit at your home.
The visit is free: I measure, look at the ground or the existing floor, and give you advice on the spot.
A firm price (a devis in French), item by item, with no surprises. You take as long as you need to decide.
I build, I check, I clean up. We walk through it together before I leave.
Snow, frost, high-altitude sun: not every timber can take that treatment. Outdoors, I work with suitable species such as Douglas fir, larch or certain deep-treated timbers, laid on a ventilated frame. I explain the differences and the prices before you choose.
In the vast majority of cases, yes. We replace the boards that are too far gone, sand the floor, and apply a new finish. A hundred-year-old floor, properly restored, is good for decades more. If the subfloor underneath is tired, I can rebuild that too: it is my trade.
Often a simple prior declaration (déclaration préalable) at the town hall is enough; sometimes nothing at all is needed, and for large structures a building permit may be required. It depends on the size, the height and your commune. I check for you and help you fill in the paperwork if needed.
A clean once a year and, depending on the species and the finish, a saturating oil every 1 to 3 years to keep the colour. If you would rather do nothing, the wood greys naturally without losing any strength. I tell you exactly what to expect for the timber you choose.
Call me and let's talk it over. The visit and the quote are free, and you decide in your own time. I speak English, so feel free to call or write in English.
