Much more than a rectangle to let the sun in

When people talk about exterior joinery, they often picture a simple window. In reality, every opening counts: for insulation, for noise, for security, for light. And every house has its own constraints.

I supply and fit windows, French doors, front doors and sliding patio doors, in timber, uPVC, aluminium or timber-aluminium. I can also make fixed frames in special shapes to give a façade some character.

My job is to advise you honestly: the right material for your house and your budget, not the most expensive one. Then to fit it properly, because poor fitting ruins the best of windows.

Getting ready for our first meeting

Here are the questions I will ask you when we first talk. Take your time to think them over, there are no wrong answers.

• Do you have a preferred material? Timber for its warmth, uPVC for easy upkeep, aluminium for its slim lines, or timber-aluminium to combine the two.
• Colour-wise, more of a classic shade that blends into the façade, or a bolder colour to add character?
• What are your priorities: insulation against the cold, noise, security, natural light?
• How do you use the rooms in question? Living room, bedroom, office: the right choice depends on how the room is used.
• Do you know whether your commune has rules on the look of façades? No need to worry if you have no idea: I check for you, and I help you with the declaration at the mairie (town hall) if one is needed.
